Dane County, Wisconsin expected to finish recount by Sunday

Election officials in Dane County, Wisconsin expect to finish their recount of the presidential ballots from the 2020 election by Sunday. County Clerk Scott McDonell tweeted Friday that the recount was about 65{a1a1c2aadef71e97d3d8dc505175168462e21e65098a9638786aefb22bafcd71} done. President Donald Trump’s campaign requested a re-tallying of the votes only in the state’s largest and most liberal counties of Milwaukee and Dane and paid $3 million for the partial recount. Milwaukee County’s recount of the vote tally ended Friday, with President-elect Joe Biden adding 132 votes to his margin of victory over Trump. In all, Biden gained 257 votes and Trump added 125. The results came Friday evening, seven days after the effort to recount nearly 460,000 ballots cast in the county began at the Wisconsin Center. Trump’s campaign appears to be preparing a court challenge to change the election’s outcome, but his window to sue is narrow as the deadline to certify the vote is Tuesday.

Small Business Saturday is more urgent than ever

In a difficult year, small businesses are about to have a hopefully more upbeat moment in the spotlight. It’s the 11th annual Small Business Saturday, which serves as the kickoff to the holiday season for independent retailers and restaurateurs. But this year is more urgent, with many small businesses struggling to survive amid the coronavirus pandemic. A study by American Express, which created Small Business Saturday, found that 64{a1a1c2aadef71e97d3d8dc505175168462e21e65098a9638786aefb22bafcd71} of business owners felt that this year is more important than ever. And small businesses have adapted, sprucing up their websites, displaying their products on social media and mirroring their big chain peers by offering options like curbside pick up. A more intimate, personalized experience may also draw in shoppers wary of malls and crowds.

Mike Tyson goes back in the ring to face Roy Jones Jr.

Mike Tyson, 54, returns to the ring Saturday for an eight-round exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. The fight will be Tyson’s first in 15 years. His professional career ended June 11, 2005, when he refused to come out for the seventh round against Kevin McBride. “My last fight, I didn’t want nothing to do with that stuff,’” Tyson told USA TODAY Sports. “I have so much more desire than my last fight.” Without spectators because of COVID-19 restrictions, the fight takes place at Staples Center in Los Angles at 9 p.m. ET. It will be available on pay-per-view for $49.99 and can be watched at tysonontriller.com.

Cyber Monday gets started this weekend at Target, other retailers

Black Friday has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean retailers’ big sales for the holiday season have come and gone. As the biggest shopping weekend of the year, the savings being offered by retailers such as Macy’s, Best Buy, Kohl’s and other stores are likely greater than you’ll see any other day this year, meaning this is the time to pick up what you’ve been eyeing for less. And since online sales this holiday season are expected to soar as more shoppers hunker down at home amid the coronavirus pandemic, Cyber Monday is getting an early start. Target revealed plans Friday for its “largest-ever” Cyber Week that starts Sunday and runs through Dec. 5. The retailer’s include “deep discounts on key categories and top items within electronics, toys, home décor, apparel, everyday essentials and more,” Target said in a news release. One of the top deals available Sunday: Shoppers can save $50 on an Apple Watch Series 6.

College football: Iron Bowl to go on, Ohio State-Illinois matchup will not

The annual Iron Bowl between No. 1 Alabama and No. 19 Auburn will be played Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS), but Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban won’t be on the sidelines for the important rivalry game. Saban tested positive for COVID-19 this week and won’t coach in game. The school said in a statement Wednesday that Saban is mildly symptomatic. Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will be acting head coach for the remainder of Saban’s time in quarantine. Sarkisian previously was a head coach at Washington and USC. One key game that has been taken off the schedule is No. 3 Ohio State’s tilt against Illinois. Ohio State canceled the game after further positive tests for COVID-19 were discovered Friday. Without playing this weekend, the Buckeyes (4-0) are in jeopardy of becoming ineligible for the conference championship game next month as teams must play a minimum of six games to reach the title game.
